RYA Day Skipper Theory, Winter 22/23
A comprehensive introduction to chartwork navigation meteorology and the basics of seamanship. Invaluable for learning how to start making decisions on board and if you are considering taking the Day Skipper practical course.
AIM
This course equips you with enough knowledge to navigate around familiar waters by day. A basic knowledge of lights is also included to introduce you to night cruising.
DURATION
This course runs on the following dates: Sat 7th, Tues 17th, Sat 21st, Tues 24th, Tues 31st Jan '23, Sat 4th, Tues 7th and Tues 14th Feb '23.
Timings, 9am to 5pm weekends, 7pm to 9pm Tuesdays
The course is taught over 40 hours with two exam papers
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Some practical experience is desirable.
MINIMUM AGE
Minimum age: 16 yrs
COST
Cost: £325 for members, £375 for non-members

RYA Handbook and course notes
Portland plotter and dividers
Certificate on successful completion of course.
YOU NEED TO BRING
- Large notebook, pencils and stationary
- Packed lunch (extra snacks/drinks available when club bar is open)

Courses held at Exe Sailing Club with a minimum duration of 40 hours, with a maximum ratio of, 1 instructor to 12 students.
